God totally guides my pen

Another devotional I wrote for Groundwire!  I absolutely LOVE being apart of this ministry.  If you are not sure what Groundwire is check it out at www.groundwire.net  They are a ministry aimed towards helping the next generation learn the hope that can only be found in Jesus Christ by placing Christ centered ads on secular radio and television stations.  I volunteer as a spiritual coach and I write devotionals from time to time for their E-Newsletter.  I love writing especially for Groundwire because when I write God truly does guide my pen.  He speaks to me and others through my writings.  LOVE how God works:)

Anger Management

I remember hearing someone say once that you can never let anger turn into bitterness it will kill you!  When I heard that I got really scared, I was not sure if I was angry at someone or not, but was sure I never wanted to be.  As I grow in my walk with the Lord, I have learned bitterness is a root that ruins the garden of peace.  We all need to be cautious to make sure that our anger does not go unattended to and that we are able to stop our anger from growing into the sin of bitterness.

I do not think it is beneficial at all to never feel anger, but I think it is beneficial to never be angry towards others.  I think there is a huge difference.  When we feel anger, we feel hurt, disappointed, crushed, used, abused, devastated…the list goes on and on.  We will all struggle with those feelings at some point in our lives, but the good news is that God can heal us from all of our unwanted hurt feelings.  Psalm 103: 2-3 says, “Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits- who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases.”  He heals the disease of a crushed spirit so that you may never have to deal with the disease of bitterness stored up in your heart.

Being angry towards someone is not being obedient to the Lord.  We are to be slow to anger and forgive others; loving them as Christ wants us to.  Forgiveness does not come naturally to us but it is inseparable from God’s nature.  If we have received God’s grace and forgiveness then we can allow others to share in God’s grace and forgiveness.  God understands anger very well.  He is a loving God but He can also be the most perfect kind of angry that we are incapable of ever being.  Give all of your anger over to the Lord, he will take it and heal your broken heart.  We do not need to dwell on that somebody who hurt us, betrayed us, or destroyed our lives.  God restores us and will guide us to victory.  Psalm 23:3 He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

Realize that on your own you are not strong enough to forgive and then love those who have caused so much pain and hurt in your life.  You need God to give you the strength.  He is waiting for you to call on Him for help to move past the hurt and grow closer to His perfect ways.  Never let your anger grow into bitterness.  God desires for you to live his perfectly peaceful plan for your life.  Do not let your entire life be ruined by one root of bitterness.  Realize that with God, He will take that anger you have stored up and demolish it.  He will kill the root of bitterness and you can live in peace with Christ.  Do not let anyone’s evil actions keep you from living the life God has planned for you!
